Beginners view to making money online

Sure enough, making money online is one of the hottest topic on internet. Try to do a google search on 'make money online' and you will see millions of results in a second. And the buzz is all around you. There are so many gurus in this area - some self proclaimed ones and others who actually know about this stuff.

Let me try to provide my view as a beginner who was bitten with this bug about a few months ago while chatting to one of my friends. He gave me some very basic concepts about internet marketing and it sounded interesting to me. I got hooked. I spent every single free minute reading about this. Then I started getting confused. There is so much material on the net and a lot of this is contradictory. And obviously the differences were in the views of two types of gurus mentioned above. But the problem for me was I could not make out the real ones with fakes ones.

On top of that, there are so many ways to make money online that it is hard to decide which option to chose. For a very beginner, it is a million dollar question. Before going deep into one option, you need to make sure that you are not wasting your time understanding something you know you would not be able to pursue. A few options which I have heard/read so far are google ad-sense, affiliate marketing, freelancing on internet, selling on ebay etc. And this is just the tip of iceberg. There are different ways to use each of these techniques. And blogging is just one of them. It took me a decent amount of time getting used to terms like backlinks, SEO, anchors, keywords, adsense, blackhats to name a few.

After going through various blogs about 'making money online', I shortlisted google adsense as the technique I wanted to use to get started. Sure, it take more time and more effort initially to see something material coming out of this technique but I have started believing that it is worth it. I found a few real gurus in Grizzly and Vic who really want to spread the knowledge they have gathered and for free. I believe they are real since they are not trying to sell me anything and their approach is very straight forward I don't want to sound that I am advocating them since I am not).

But beginners like me do have quite a list of challenges when they start out:
    •    Working a full time job makes it harder to devote the amount of time we would ideally like to put into this effort.
    •    Worse, until you see money coming you don't get the courage to leave your job and go full time into this stuff.
    •    As mentioned earlier, it becomes pretty difficult to chose the technique and then the method used within the technique to get started
    •    Easier said than done. Even when you understand the concepts, you will realize it is more difficult than it sounds. Writing articles, getting backlinks is not something which can be done easily.
    •    Patience - last but certainly not the least. Beginners run out of patience very quickly. Thats why I guess most people leave it without earning anything. I hope I don't go to that group.
